Mid and East Antrim in the running for ‘APSE Overall Council of the Year in Service Delivery Award’

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has been shortlisted as one of the finalists in the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Overall Council of the Year IN Service Delivery Awards, 2019. This is in addition to being shortlisted as one of the top finalists in the Best Service Team – Parks, Grounds and Horticultural Services category.

This outstanding award will recognise the best and most innovative local authority in the UK. Focusing on their delivery of frontline services, the award seeks to celebrate those councils who are achieving excellent results in a wide range of different service areas.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Chief Executive, Anne Donaghy said: “I am delighted our Council has been shortlisted for this prestigious UK-wide award.

“Team Mid and East Antrim – including our elected members and staff – continue to push so hard for the people of our borough.

“I congratulate each and every one of them on this recognition.”

APSE Chief Executive, Paul O’Brien said: “It fills me with enormous confidence to see local authorities across the UK performing so well, despite the pressures they are currently under and the changes they face to their services. This award is an excellent way of recognising the efforts of these highly-resilient and innovative councils. A huge congratulations and thank you to all those shortlisted."

Mid and East Antrim is one of ten Councils shortlisted for this year’s Overall Council of the Year award. The other Councils shortlisted are as follows:

  • City of Wolverhampton Council
  • Darlington Borough Council
  • East Riding of Yorkshire Council
  • Liverpool City Council
  • Oxford City Council
  • South Gloucestershire Council
  • Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council
  • Sunderland City Council

The winner of this prestigious award will be announced in Newcastle at the APSE Annual Service Awards Charity Dinner on Thursday 12 September.
