‘Phenomenal’ SuperCupNI hailed as a great result for Mid and East Antrim

This year’s STATSports SuperCupNI has been praised as “one of the best to date” following the week-long festival of football.

Many of the best youth teams and players from around the world showcased their skills on pitches throughout Mid and East Antrim during the prestigious competition with more than thirty-five matches staged in the Borough.

Speaking after the showpiece finals night at Ballymena Showgrounds, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Maureen Morrow said: “I wish to personally congratulate all of the organisers, teams, coaches, families, sponsors and all those involved in what was another phenomenal tournament.

“I was privileged to take in several games and was in awe of the talent of the young players taking part and how well the event was arranged and organised. I would like to say thank you to all the teams who travelled to complete and congratulations to those who have won in their respected category.

“As a Council, we are hugely supportive of the STATSports SuperCupNI and it was fantastic to see so many people attending the matches and enjoying the competition.

“This incredible tournament showcased our Borough and its wonderful facilities to a global audience and is extremely beneficial to tourism and our economy.”

Sixty-one teams took part in this year’s SuperCupNI competition with matches taking place at Ballymena and Coleraine Showgrounds, Ahoghill, Broughshane, Clough, Scroggy Road (Limavady), Riada Stadium (Ballymoney), Seahaven (Portstewart) and Anderson Park (Coleraine).
