Putting People 1st through Mid and East Antrim’s Health and Social Care Academy

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, in partnership with People 1st, are looking for local people who would like to gain employment in the Health and Social Care sector.

The Employment Academy is open to anyone living in the Mid and East Antrim Council area, currently out of work or working less than 16 hours a week.

Preference will be given to those who are economically inactive or long-term unemployed.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor William McCaughey, said: “The Health and Social Care Academy offers an exciting opportunity for training and support with access to live vacancies.

“Participants will benefit from a chance to improve employability with guaranteed interviews with local employers. It will also provide an introduction to the sector and an insight into the range of job roles available as well as access to a range of personal development and training including interview skills, effective communication and teamwork.”

This year, the programme will take a two-strand approach.

The start date for participants interested in gaining the necessary entry-level knowledge and skills is 24 January.

If you are currently working in the Health and Social Care sector and are keen to take your career to the next level, the Academy is offering candidates an opportunity to work towards NFCE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Northern Ireland) (Adult Residential Management/Adult Management).

Candidates must have a minimum of 18 months experience in a health and/or social care setting working at deputy manager level and need to be living in the Mid and East Antrim Council Area and the employer must have a progression position available once the candidate completes the qualification.

An Induction Date for the Level 5 qualification will take place on Monday 7 February with the dates of the classes provided upon registering.
