Sign up for the COP26 Regional Climate Roadshow today

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council along with Antrim and Newtownabbey Council is calling on residents and local businesses to sign up for the COP26 Regional Climate Roadshow, an online event aimed at raising an awareness and understanding of climate change.

This roadshow will take place on Monday 8 November from 10am to 12 noon and will coincide with the ‘Adaption, Loss and Damage’ themed day at the Glasgow COP26 Conference, which focusses on delivering the practical solutions needed to adapt to climate impacts and address loss and damage.

For nearly three decades the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits – called COPs – which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. In that time, climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority.

This year will be the 26th annual summit will take place in Glasgow with world leaders arriving in Scotland alongside tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and citizens for twelve days of talks. In the run up to COP26 the UK is working with every nation to reach agreement on how to tackle climate change.

As part of the roadshow a complement of key speakers have been invited to give an update on emerging climate science, the local business perspective, how Council is responding to the climate change agenda and how residents and businesses can get involved.

Key speakers include the Met Office, Climate NI, Rivers Agency, GenComm, Energia, Natural World Products, Bryson Recycling, MyNI, Mayors and Council officers.

Council’s COP26 Regional Climate Roadshow will be livestreamed to the COP26 Conference in Glasgow on the 8 November 2021. This is part of the Glasgow COP26 Conference taking place from the 1-12 November.
