Appeal following serious collision in Fairfield

We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Fairfield this evening (Sunday 20 January 2019).

A report was received shortly after 5.50pm that there had been a collision on Prescot Road near its junction with Freehold Street involving a double decker bus and a red Kia Stonic car. The Kia was then in collision with an unoccupied stationary BMW car.

The driver of the red Kia, a man in his 80s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

One female passenger on the bus sustained a back injury.

A road closure is in place in both directions on Prescot Road from Sheil Road to Green Lane. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
