Appeal for information following incident in Orchard Court, Clipsley Lane, Haydock

Merseyside Police can confirm that officers are currently in attendance at a property in Haydock following what is believed to be a domestic incident, which has resulted in a 39-year-old man sustaining serious stab wounds.

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing by the ambulance service at about 1.20pm this afternoon at a property in Orchard Court, Clipsley Lane, Haydock.

Two people were attended to by North West Ambulance Service, a 39-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman who it is believed had been involved in a domestic dispute.

The woman, who sustained head injuries, was taken to hospital for treatment. She has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.

The injured male, who has suffered stab wounds has undergone surgery.

The injuries to both parties are not believed to be life threatening at this stage.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to anyone who may have information which could help them with their inquiries to come forward.

Crime Scene Investigators are currently carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries are underway.
