Appeal for witnesses after 24 year-old man assaulted in Vauxhall

An investigation is underway after a 24-year-old man suffered serious stab wounds during an assault in Vauxhall this evening (Thursday, 10 January 2019).

The victim was with his sister, outside the Everydays store, on Vauxhall Road, at about 8.15pm when they were approached by three men, believed to be known to them.

The three men, armed with what was described as a machete and a baseball bat, attacked the victim and they escaped in small van along Vauxhall Road out of the city.

The victim suffered stab wounds to his leg and his back and his sister, who tried to help her brother, suffered a wound to her arm.

The victim was taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable and his sister also went to hospital for treatment to an injury to her arm.

Crime scene investigators are currently at the scene carrying out forensic examinations and detectives are carrying out local inquiries and examining CCTV footage.
