Investigation underway following incident in Breckside Park, Anfield

An investigation is currently underway following reports that shots were fired at a vehicle in Breckside Park in Anfield.

We were contacted at just after 11pm last night, Friday 11th January, following reports that a silver vehicle was seen driving off from the area at speed.

Officers were deployed to the area and a silver BMW X5 together with a Range Rover were stopped nearby. The X5 had damage consistent with a discharge.

The occupants of the vehicles were not injured during the incident.

The BMW has been seized and CCTV, forensic and house-to-house enquiries are ongoing in the local area.

Detective Inspector Lisa Ryan said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages. I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Breckside Park last night who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was driving around the area who may have dash cam footage to contact us.

“Thankfully nobody was injured during this incident but the use of firearms on the street of Merseyside will not be tolerated and we are committed to finding the people responsible and bringing them to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
