Man arrested for number of offences following incident at an address in Moreton, Wirral

Merseyside Police has arrested a 36-year-old man from Bootle following a domestic incident at an address in Moreton in the early hours of Friday, 4 January 2019. The male was arrested after he fled from the scene on Wastdale Road, Moreton, in the victim's car. Police were called to reports of domestic assault just before 3am on Friday morning and when they arrived at the address they found that the 28-year-old female occupant and her seven-year-old child had both been assaulted. The woman had sustained a serious deep laceration to her right eye and had been threatened with a knife. The offender left the address in the victim's car and was arrested in Seaview Road, Bootle, following a short pursuit after the car was spotted on Scotland Road heading towards Bootle. Within minutes of the pursuit starting the car collided with two other vehicles on Seaview Road. Officers got out of their car but the male was still trying to force the car through the two cars he had collided with. As a result officers had to smash the driver’s side window and use a Taser to facilitate his arrest. Merseyside Police has instigated the normal post incident procedures following the deployment of the Taser and the male was taken to hospital as a precaution. The male has been taken to a police station on Merseyside where he will be questioned on suspicion of a Section 18 domestic related assault, Section 47 assault on a child, aggravated burglary, unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.
