Man arrested on prison recall in West Derby

We have arrested and recalled to prison a man wanted for breach of licence in West Derby.

At around 12.15pm on Friday 18 January officers attended an address on Leyfield Road to locate 21-year-old Connor Owens, who had been wanted since 22 November 2018.

He was released from a three year, four month sentence for conspiracy to supply drugs on 12 September last year, but breached the conditions of his licence following his release.

Following a search of the address, 21-year-old Owens was located but made off on foot and following a foot pursuit, was detained on Aysgarth Avenue after a containment.

A 20-year-old woman from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police. She has been released under investigation.

Owens appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Saturday 19 January before being recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Community Inspector Bobby Woodhall said: "The recall to prison of Owens shows once again that we will track down wanted offenders using all available powers.

"Our officers face challenging situations like this every day, and this incident serves to illustrate yet again their determination and professionalism."
