Man arrested on suspicion of assault following incident in Clock Face, St Helens

We have arrested a man on suspicion of assault following an incident in Clock Face, St Helens on Wednesday afternoon, 9 January.

At around 3.30pm, a call was received of an assault close to the Bull and Dog pub on Clock Face Road, initially believed to have been the result of a verbal altercation between occupants of a Ford Fiesta and a Peugeot van.

The victim, a man in his 40s, received serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. An 18-year-old woman who was on a moped was also reportedly punched but was uninjured.

Following enquiries, a 37-year-old man from Clock Face was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and was taken to a police station for questioning. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
