Man charged with attempted robbery and other offences in Birkenhead

We have arrested and charged a man with various offences following an attempted robbery at an ATM in Birkenhead this month.

At 7.30am on Thursday 8 August, a woman in her 20s was withdrawing money from an ATM on Argyle Street when a man approached her and attempted to steal cash and a wallet. The victim managed to keep hold of the money and the man ran off, causing a facial injury to the victim in the altercation.

Following enquiries, 46-year-old Stuart Ogilvie from Grange Mount, Birkenhead was arrested and has now been charged with attempted robbery; four separate counts of theft from Superdrug in Grange Road in July, and possession of cannabis.

Ogilvie was kept in custody to appear this morning (Tuesday 20 August) at Wirral Adult Remand Court in Chester Street.
