Man charged with manslaughter following death of 90-year-old William Burns in Netherton

Detectives investigating the death of a man in April have charged a man with manslaughter.

Officers received an initial report of an assault on Wednesday, 27 March, which is believed to have taken place at an address in Fatherside Drive, Netherton on Sunday, 24 March. The victim, 90-year-old William Burns, was taken to hospital with chest and facial injuries, where he sadly passed away on Saturday, 6 April.

20-year-old Michael Burns from Fatherside Drive, Netherton was previously charged with section. 20 assault and had been released on bail.

He was charged with manslaughter on Friday, 10 May and will next appear at Merseyside Domestic Violence Court on Wednesday 15 May.
