Man charged with number of theft and traffic offences

Merseyside Police has charged a Liverpool man with a number of theft and traffic offences.

46-year-old Steven Barton of Elloway Road, Liverpool has been charged with:

Dangerous driving
Driving while disqualified
Driving without insurance
Five counts of fraud by false representation
Two counts of going equipped for theft
Four counts of handling stolen goods
Four counts of theft from a motor vehicle

The charges related to a number of incidents involving thefts from vehicles parked in gym car parks in the West Derby, Aintree, Hunts Cross, Speke and Widnes areas, dating back to early November 2018.

Mr Barton has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 11 February 2019.
