Officers attended report of assault in Melling

We can confirm we attended an incident in Melling on Saturday (12 January 2019).

Officers were called to land off Spurriers Lane to a disturbance at about 12.15pm.

It was reported a group of males in a white Renault van used wooden sticks to damage a grey Ford Transit van at the site. It was also alleged that some of the offenders were carrying knives.

It was further reported a 55-year-old man had been assaulted with a wooden stick during the incident. He sustained a minor head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Two men were arrested and later released with no further action taken and no criminal complaint made.
