Officers investigating stabbing on Huyton Lane this afternoon

Officers were called to Huyton Lane this afternoon (3rd January) following reports that a man had been stabbed.  

The incident is reported to have happened just after 1pm when the victim, a man in his 40s was stabbed in the back by an unknown offender, who is then believed to have made off down a nearby alley.

The offender is described as male, in his early teens/twenties, wearing all black with his face covered. He is believed to have made off from the scene on foot.
 
The victim has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Officers remain at the scene carrying out further forensic and CCTV investigations to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
