Police appeal to help identify offender/s who stabbed 39 year old man

Merseyside Police are currently investigating reports of a firearms discharge and stabbing in Gateacre last night (24th August).

Officers were called to Grange road at around 9.30pm last night following reports that a 39 year old man had received stab wounds and gun shots had been heard in the area.

Armed response officers were deployed where they located the victim. He was treated for several stab wounds to his thighs, arm and abdomen. He was taken to hospital where his injuries were examined and not thought to be life threatening.

Officers then searched the area where they found some bullet casings, confirming a discharge had taken place.

We remain in the area continuing to carry out a thorough investigation including analysing CCTV, speaking to neighbours and locals and undertaking forensic analysis.
