Update: Two men arrested in connection with Netherton assault

**UPDATE - 11.45PM THURSDAY 29TH MAY**

Detectives have today, Thursday 29th May, arrested two men in connection with an assault in Netherton.

The men, both aged 21, and from the L4 area, were arrested on suspicion of s18 assault.

They are currently in custody where they will be questioned by detectives.

We are investigating following reports a man in his 20s was assaulted in Netherton today, Sunday 26th May. 

Officers were called to Carlisle Avenue at 4.50pm following reports the man had suffered injuries to his back, chest and hands consistent with a bladed weapon being used. It is believed the incident took place on playing fields off Chester Avenue.

The man has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.

Road closures are in place in the surrounding area to allow for an investigation to be carried out.
