Man charged with murder as Bermondsey assault victim named

A man has been charged with murder after the death of a man in Bermondsey.

Police were contacted by staff at a London hospital at around 12:30hrs on Wednesday, 10 June after a man was admitted with serious head injuries.

Early enquiries indicated that the 43-year-old man had been assaulted inside a property on Cadbury Way, SE16.

Despite best efforts of medical staff, he sadly died in hospital later that night.

The victim can now be named as Terry Wilding. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

On Thursday, 11 June officers arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Jay Hewetson, 41 (30.11.84), of Abbey Street, Southwark, was charged yesterday, Friday, 12 June with murder and was remanded to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 13 June.
