Officer dismissed following gross misconduct hearing
A serving police constable has been dismissed without notice following the conclusion of a gross misconduct hearing on Wednesday, 5 May.
The hearing found that PC Katie Burroughs, attached to the East Area Command Unit, has breached the professional standards of behaviour in relation to ‘orders and instructions’.
In 2019, PC Burroughs undertook a business interest that had been refused by a senior officer. Despite this refusal, PC Burroughs continued to operate the business, alongside her role as a police officer.
The independent chair at the hearing considered all of the evidence available and decided that misconduct was proven. PC Burroughs was dismissed without notice.
