Appeal after moped driver's death in Lewisham collision

Investigators are appealing for witnesses after a moped rider died in Lewisham following a collision with a car.

At around 18:40hrs on Saturday, 20 September, Met officers attended Southend Lane, Lewisham, alongside the London Ambulance Service, following reports of a collision between a car and a moped.

The rider of the moped, a 25-year-old man, was treated for serious injuries. He sadly died at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed, and are being supported by officers.

The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs. He was taken into police custody, where he remains.
