Man charged following a fatal collision in Westminster

A man has been charged after a man in his 40s was struck by a car in Park Crescent, W1 on Friday, 26 September.

Met detectives launched an urgent investigation and appealed for witnesses last week.

On Monday, 29 September, Yassin Uddin, 30 (05.10.2004) of The Ride, Enfield was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, failing to stop after an accident and perverting the course of justice.

Uddin has been remanded in custody until Tuesday, 28 October when he will appear at the Old Bailey.

On Friday, 26 September at 19:35hrs police were called to Park Crescent, W1 following reports that a man had been hit by a car.

Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a man in his 40s before taking him a near-by hospital, where he sadly died.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit launched an urgent investigation into the circumstances as Uddin did not stop at the scene.

The victim's next of kin are currently being supported by specialist officers.
