Mondelez International and Sheffield Wednesday Announce New Partnership

The Owls are proud to announce today its new partnership with Mondelēz International, owner of Cadbury, making the UK’s favourite chocolate brand an Official Club Partner for the next two seasons.

With one of Cadbury’s longest standing manufacturing sites situated just a stone’s throw from Hillsborough, the partnership celebrates the shared values of two leading brands, focusing on bringing people together, creating and sharing moments of happiness, as well as celebrating and supporting local communities.

Cadbury is proud to build its relationship with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and support in the community by donating their sponsorship assets to support its Wise Old Owls program. Formed in 2001 with just 12 people, the program now has over 150 members over the age of 50 and provides these supporters the opportunity to meet monthly for social and physical activities. Cadbury will support these activities that encourage a sense of community and belonging through the donation of guest speakers, product, and player meet and greet opportunities, when deemed safe to do so or in a virtual capacity.

Owls Commercial Director, Liam Dooley said: “We are delighted to welcome such a huge global brand as Mondelez and Cadbury to Club Wednesday.

“We look forward to supporting Cadbury to build upon their heritage in our community, whilst at the same time offering our fans a unique way to interact with SWFC.”

Colin O’Toole, Associate Director of Marketing of Cadbury Equity added: “We are delighted to welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Cadbury family. Having roots in the community since 1842, we will continue to work closely with the club and its great work it does in the community, starting with the donation of our media assets to the local community, and a focus on the exciting Wise Old Owls initiative”.

As part of the package, Cadbury will be offering Wednesdayites fantastic incentives and prizes to watch out for through the coming weeks and months!

The first fan-focused initiative, running across more than 180million products, will be Cadbury’s Match and Win, which returned for its fourth and biggest ever year in August. Supporters will have the chance to win a range of Owls-specific prizes – CLICK HERE for more information on Cadbury’s Match and Win promotion.

Welcome to Club Wednesday!

About Cadbury

For nearly 200 years, since John Cadbury opened a grocer’s shop in Birmingham in 1824, Cadbury has been the nation’s favourite chocolate bar. Recently voted Brand of the Year 2019*, Cadbury has a wide range of well-loved delicious chocolate that reminds the nation that there is a ‘Glass and a Half’ of generosity in everyone. The brand’s success is built upon its deep understanding of customers, shoppers and the category, ensuring it continues to evolve to remain relevant. The health and wellbeing of consumers is hugely important and so through BeTreatwise aims to remind people that treats are special, to be enjoyed in moderation as part of a balanced lifestyle. Portion control and consumer education, through on pack labelling, have a huge part to play in Cadbury’s strategy to ‘inspire mindful snacking’. The brand recently announced its plans to bring all Cadbury products predominantly purchased by parents for children, under 100 calories. As well as this, reduced sugar innovations such as Cadbury Dairy Milk 30% Less help consumers manage their sugar intake. 100% of the cocoa in Cadbury’s chocolate is sustainably sourced through the company’s industry leading Cocoa Life programme, which supports sustainable cocoa farming.
