Design changes to Elgin Western Link Road project to be presented to objectors
Changes made to the design of Moray Council’s Western Link Road will be presented to objectors this week.
Following refusal of the planning application for the project last year, a workshop was held with those who spoke against the development at the planning hearing.
The workshop looked at how the design could be improved to reflect concerns by objectors and resulted in a number of changes for consideration.
Moray Council’s external consultants, Jacobs, have now revised the design. In addition, a consultancy with specialist knowledge of the Scottish Government’s Designing Streets guidelines have reviewed the proposed changes to ensure a best fit with the Designing Streets philosophy.
On Tuesday (6th) this week the new design will be presented to those who attended the workshop in June.
The project will be the subject of a report to the council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee this month, setting out details of the extra costs associated both with the revised design and the separation of the project from the work needed for the new Elgin High School access road. If the committee agrees to continue its support for the project a new planning application will be submitted later in the year.
