Norwegian carried 3.2 million passengers in the second quarter – a 15 percent growth compared to the same period last year. The airline’s total revenue came in just above 2 billion NOK, a 7 percent increase. The net result after taxes of -134 million NOK was strongly influenced by the Authorities’ closing of the European airspace this spring.
Norwegian reports its best passenger figures ever in June. More than 1.2 million passengers flew with the airline last month. The company had a passenger growth of 25 percent compared to June 2009.
The total number of passengers flown in June 2010 was 1,224,958 compared to 976,836 last year, an increase of 248,122 passengers (25 %). Compared to the same period last year: - Total passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 30 % - Total capacity (ASK) increased by 32 % - The load factor was 77 %, down 2 p.p.
Norwegian continues its expansion in the Swedish market as a ninth aircraft will be based at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport in September. As a result Norwegian will double its capacity from Stockholm Arlanda to London and Helsinki in addition to increasing its number of daily flights to Copenhagen from five to six.

Norwegian’s passenger traffic, production and number of passengers in April were heavily disrupted by the closure of European airspace due to volcanic ash. The total number of passengers flown in April 2010 was 791,371 compared to 861,530 last year, a decrease of 70,159 passengers (-8 %).
Norwegian’s passenger figures were strongly affected by the unexpected closing of European airspace in April due to volcanic ash. Close to 2 000 flights were cancelled. A total of 800 000 passengers flew with Norwegian. The company had a production growth of 13 percent compared to April last year.
Today Norwegian opened its new direct flights from Stockholm and Oslo to Helsinki, with prices from 27 Euros one way. Norwegian consequently becomes the first low-cost airline to fly these routes.

Today, Norwegian announced financial results for the first quarter, showing a unit cost of NOK 0.40 ex. fuel. This represented a large cost reduction compared to the same period last year. More than 2.7 million passengers chose to travel with Norwegian in the first quarter of 2010, an increase of 28 per cent compared to the same period last year.
