  • Scope of Star Tour contract widened by NOK 320 million

    The agreement now also includes the summer season 2011 with an additional 800 flights with an approximate additional contract value of MNOK 320 The full agreement now comprises a total of 1,100 flights with a contract value of MNOK 490.

  • Aircraft lease agreement

    Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA has entered into a Letter of Intent to lease two new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners from ILFC. Norwegian will take delivery of the aircraft starting fall 2012. The lease term for both aircraft is 12 years. The Letter of Intent is entered into as part of Norwegian’s set up for Long Haul operations.

    The total number of passengers flown in October 2010 was 1,268,941 compared to 1,049,203 last year, an increase of 219,738 passengers (21 %).

  • Norwegian reports a 21 percent passenger growth in October

    Norwegian continues to experience a considerable passenger growth in October. Close to 1.3 million passengers flew with the airline in October, a 21 percent increase compared to the same month last year. The company’s overall punctuality has improved considerably.

    Today Norwegian presents a pre-tax profit of NOK 733 million, which is the best result in a single quarter in the company´s history. Compared to the same quarter last year the unit cost is significantly reduced and the number of passengers increased by as much as 25 percent.

  • Norwegian reports a 20 percent passenger growth in September

    Norwegian continues to experience a considerable passenger growth. More than 1.2 million passengers flew with the airline in September, a 20 percent increase compared to the same month last year. A strong capacity increase and the launch of typical business destinations influence the September figures.

    The total number of passengers flown in September 2010 was 1,213,542 compared to 1,010,439 last year, an increase of 203,103 passengers (20 %). Compared to the same period last year: - Total passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 32 % - Total capacity (ASK) increased by 33 % - The load factor was 77 %, which is equivalent to last year.

  • Norwegian expands in Finland with 100 weekly flights

    The airline Norwegian opens a Finnish base at Helsinki’s Vantaa airport. At the same time it introduces two domestic routes and expands the current international offer from two to eleven. Three aircraft will be based in Helsinki.

  • Final judgment in compensation suit against SAS

    The Appeals Committee of the Supreme Court has 28 September 2010 denied SAS' appeal against Borgarting High Court's judgment 16 March 2010, in which SAS was held liable to pay to Norwegian damages and costs for unlawful use of Norwegian's trade secrets. The Appeals Committee's decision was communicated to Norwegian today.

  • SALE AND LEASEBACK TRANSACTION

    Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA has completed a sale and leaseback agreement with Bank of America Leasing Ireland Co., Limited (BALI) for two Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
    The first aircraft will be delivered BALI on the 23rd of September and the second will be delivered medio October. At the date of delivery the aircraft will be leased back on an agreed dry lease agreement.
