    Norwegian (NAS) reports a second quarter 2013 pre-tax profit of 277 MNOK, an improvement of 152 MNOK from the same quarter last year. The second quarter is characterized by a strong unit cost reduction, solid production growth and a higher load factor. The unit cost reduction of 9 percent was achieved despite start-up costs for the long-haul operation and the establishment of new bases in Europe.

    Norwegian and Panasonic Avionics Corporation have joined forces to develop the first ever Android™ powered in-flight entertainment system. Norwegian’s passengers will be able to use select Android apps that are pre-loaded onto the system, providing an in-flight experience similar to the on-the-ground experience travelers have become accustomed to with their personal devices.

    Today Norwegian took delivery of its first 787 Dreamliner. “This marks a major milestone in our company’s history and I am looking forward to welcoming our passengers on board this brand new aircraft.     Norwegian has been voted Europe’s best low-cost carrier of the year by the renowned SkyTrax World Airline Awards. It is the passengers themselves who have evaluated over 200 airlines worldwide in what is described as the most prestigious award in the airline industry. Norwegian’s CEO Bjørn Kjos accepted the prize during Paris Air Show on Tuesday morning.
