Welcome to the nursing nook
We are proud to announce that we have managed to find space for an important amenity for a very important target group: Welcome to the nursing nook at Oslo Airport!
We know that travelling with small children can be hectic and strenuous, and we are determined to do what we can to make time spent at the airport as positive as possible for children and parents. We have therefore created a quiet and secluded area dedicated to breastfeeding, to provide a peaceful moment for parents and small children before they go on board.
A long-sought facility
“This is exactly what I was looking for,” says Maria Adolfsen. She and her daughter Anna Sofie, a happy and satisfied 8-month-old girl, are the very first to avail themselves of the nursing nook.
“I was actually going to wait to breastfeed until I got on board, it’s not something you want to do out in the open in the common seating area at the airport,” Maria says.
Maria and Anna Sofia are the very first to use a space long sought by the public.
Through social media and other channels, people have made it clear that they miss having a place to feed infants in peace and quiet.
Focus on children and parents
The breastfeeding nook is the newest initiative in our major focus on children and families with small children at Oslo Airport. This summer, we launched Felix & Fiona, a visual concept designed to make information, services and amenities for children and parents easily accessible and recognisable. The project group is working continuously to develop the Felix & Fiona concept and come up with new ideas.
Felix & Fiona already adorn our baby changing rooms, children’s menus at restaurants, the family track in the security check and the osl.no/barn website. Even as we identify and highlight the amenities we already have for children, we are also working diligently on new ideas to make the airport as child-friendly as possible.
We hope travellers with small children will welcome and use the nursing nook from now on.
“I have long thought that there should be such an area for us with small children here at the airport. We will definitely use the breastfeeding room again the next time we travel,” Maria says.
Send us your suggestions!
To enable us to achieve our goal of being as child-friendly as we can be, we rely on our most important advisers and partners - our passengers. Children and parents know what is important to them - so please send us your suggestions! We want to improve, we want to learn and we promise to listen. Space is unfortunately rather limited right now, but we are expanding and, starting in 2017, we will have a little more space to make use of.
