Get powered up before departing Oslo Airport
Oslo Airport has installed even more outlets in the terminal for you to charge your devices. Even more outlets are available in the work zone located in the international pier.
In March last year, there were just more than 300 outlets in the various cafes and restaurants, as well as around 100 outlets in the South Pier, also known as Gate 19. Over the course of 2014, between 600 and 700 new outlets were installed for passenger convenience in both domestic and international departures.
Don’t run out of power
Currently, more than 1,000 outlets are available to passengers for charging mobile devices in the terminals’ cafes, restaurants and the seating areas near the gates. There is no requirement of purchase at the restaurants, so you can sit and work here as well. Some of the new places there are installed outlets with four to six sockets, are under some of the benches at most gates. These are labelled with a symbol. Oslo Airport also offers free Wi-Fi to travellers.
“Passengers have provided input on where they want more charging points at Oslo Airport, which we have taken into consideration. Last year we started working on this, and we can now offer more charging points for our travellers,” says Joachim Westher Andersen, media manager at Oslo Airport.
“Some want to sit by the gate and work or surf online. It is a current trend to be available at all times, and electronic devices have to be charged. To meet this demand, we have increased the number of outlets available to the public.”
Top off your mobile with a PowerKiss
You can also charge your mobile wirelessly with the “PowerKiss” service available at Upper Crust international, Christiania Bar and Monolitten, as well as the OSL Lounge.
“The way this works is that you attach a wireless charger to your mobile. The wireless charger is available by payment of a NOK 200 security deposit at the tills of selected cafes and restaurants. When the charger is attached, you simply place your mobile on one of the charger stations and the the battery is charged wirelessly,” Andersen explains.
PowerKiss is available at many European airports, so if you want, you can bring your charger with you and reuse it in other locations.
Work undisturbed before departing
There is also a work zone in the terminal for international travellers. The area is well marked, and is near passport control, at the far end of the international pier.
The work zone is equipped with chairs with double sockets, a separate computer table and is well shieldedagainst noise and any prying eyes. There is also a bar table against the windows, where you can enjoy an excellent view of the aircrafts while getting some work done.
