Passenger increase continues at Oslo Airport
Air traffic statistics for October show an increase in the number of passengers at Oslo Airport.
In October, 2 086 066 passengers travelled via Oslo Airport, up 3.2 per cent compared with the same month last year. In 2013, the total number of passengers at Oslo Airport grew by 3.9 per cent. With two months to go to year-end, more than 19.5 million passengers have travelled via Oslo Airport so far.
“We are, of course, very pleased to see that the increase at Oslo Airport continues,” says Managing Director Nic. Nilsen.
Most punctual airport - again
The high number of passengers coincides with FlightStats.com ranking Oslo Airport the most punctual airport in Europe for the third year in a row. In October, punctuality at the airport was 88.67 per cent despite the fact that one of the largest construction projects in Norway is currently taking place at the airport.
“It is challenging to maintain close to normal operations while we are expanding to this extent. That we have managed to increase the number of passengers and achieve the highest punctuality in Europe, is a sure sign that we have competent and loyal employees who do their utmost to make sure we succeed. As manager, I am naturally delighted,” Nilsen concludes.
Highest increase in international travel
International travel increased the most, up 6.1 per cent compared with October last year. Domestic travel increased by 2.2 per cent.
The Oslo-Trondheim route still draws the highest number of passengers. In October, as many as 193 632 passengers travelled between the two cities, up 3.9 per cent from last year. The Oslo-Bergen, Oslo-Stavanger and Oslo-Copenhagen routes follow close behind, with Oslo-Copenhagen increasing 5 per cent compared with October 2012. As in September, the Oslo-London route saw the greatest increase, rising 6.3 per cent compared with last year. Year to date, the total number of passengers on the Oslo-London route has grown 9.5 per cent.
