Oslo Airport sees expected dip in traffic

Oslo Airport’s traffic figures for March saw an expected decrease due to Easter, traditionally a week with few business travellers, with passenger numbers dipping 3.7% compared with March 2012.

In domestic traffic, the decline was 8.7%, reflecting a quiet Easter week. International traffic was up by 1.0%, which was better than expected, confirming the trend that many Norwegians choose to holiday abroad.

Despite the decline, traffic figures are about 3% ahead of budgeted traffic. The number of aircraft movements in March totalled 18,212, a decrease of 4.4%.

With 149,000 passengers in March, Trondheim retained its position as the most travelled route out of OSL, followed by Bergen, Stavanger and Copenhagen.

“We were prepared that Easter would cause a decline in traffic in March. Nonetheless, we are pleased that international traffic is showing a strong trend and that we actually saw higher traffic numbers than budgeted,” says Vegar Gystad, head of media relations.
