Press release —
Political strike will affect air traffic
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), Confederation of Trade Unions (YS) and Unio have announced that they will conduct a political strike on Wednesday, 28 January between the hours of 14.00 and 16.00. The strike will disrupt air traffic at Oslo Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
The strike will have implications for staffing at Oslo Airport and restrict the flow of traffic.
On Wednesday, 28 January 2015, between the hours of 14.00 to 16.00 (local time), no flights except for ambulance, police and Armed Forces-related flights will be cleared for take-off from Oslo Airport.
While landings at Oslo Airport will not be affected by the political strike, they may be impacted by similar actions at other Norwegian airports.
The terminal will be open to passengers during the strike and the security check and check-in will proceed with somewhat reduced capacity. Cafes, restaurants and shops will also remain open.
“Air traffic delays must be expected throughout the afternoon and evening as a result of the political strike earlier in the day,” says Joachim Westher Andersen, media manager and press spokesman at Oslo Airport.
Travellers are requested to consult their airline or www.osl.no for information about the impact of the strike on flights.
This announcement may be subject to change.
