New 868-MHz wireless module with Trusted Wireless 2.0

Phoenix Contact is expanding its Trusted Wireless 2.0 range of Radioline wireless communication products with an 868-MHz wireless module. This module utilizes the 868-MHz frequency, which is publicly available and license-free in Europe, at a maximum transmission power of 500 mW, facilitating easy communication of I/O signals and serial data. This is particularly useful for outdoor applications such as in water and wastewater management or power supply networks. The module represents a very simple and reliable solution for non-time-critical applications where signals need to be transmitted over long distances of up to 20 kilometres.

A special advantage of this wireless module stems from the adjustable data rate of its wireless interface in the range of 1.2 to 120 kbps, which increases the reception sensitivity. A low data rate can span a significantly longer distance than high data rates. As a result of the individual adaptation, users can therefore make the optimum settings for their particular application and the required range.

The Radioline wireless system’s I/O mapping distributes signals across the system without requiring any prior programming. All it takes is a turn of the knurled knob to assign the inputs and outputs. Each wireless module can be modularly expanded by up to 32 expansion modules.
