MP cuts the ribbon to celebrate re-opening of Woodborough Post Office and new-look store
Michael Payne MP for Gedling “cut the ribbon” to mark the official opening of Woodborough Post Office and a completely refurbished store. Mayor of Gedling Cllr Kyle Robinson-Payne was also in attendance.
New owner Maldebhai Gorania has recently taken on the store and undertook a big refit to the premises at 137 Main Street, Woodborough, Nottingham, to make it modern, welcoming and with well-stocked retail.
Last week Woodborough Post Office had re-opened at the same location as before restoring vital services to the community. Maldebhai is an experienced postmaster as he previously had a branch in the Grimsby area.
Michael Payne MP said: “This means a great deal to the people of Woodborough to have their post office back open. I’m delighted to join in the celebration to mark the official opening of this great-looking refurbished store and post office services resuming.
“People live busy lives and it’s great that people can do their banking here, send and collect parcels every day at the heart of the village.”
Woodborough had been without a post office since November 2025, and the village is delighted to have post office services on their doorstep again. It offers the same range of post office services as before.
Woodborough Postmaster, Maldebhai Gorania, said: “People in Woodborough are very happy that their post office has re-opened. They are really pleased with the look of the fully refurbished store too. It was a big refurbishment of the shop, and we were able to fully stock the shop before the post office re-opened again.”
The opening hours for Woodborough Post Office are Monday to Friday: 9.30am - 4.30pm; Saturday: 9.30am – 12.30pm; Sunday: 9.30am - 4pm.
This provides 44 hours of post office service a week for the convenience of customers.
Post Office Retail Change Lead, David Woodhead, said: “We know how important a post office is to a community and we are delighted to have re-opened Woodborough branch inside this modernised store.”
