General Election Betting Odds

Perhaps not the news the opposition was expecting this morning as Theresa May called a snap General Election on June 8th. The same can be said of bookmakers across the UK and beyond with an already busy Champions League day getting some extra pressure on the trading desks with requirements for Political odds to be circulated. Our team of tipsters have surveyed the markets and provided some early insights on the Election odds.

As expected the Conservatives are strong favorites to retain a majority and are as likely to win as Chelsea to win the league. Labour are available generally at 10/1 and are being cast the same chances as Spurs to produce a miracle comeback and claim the Premier League. The Liberal democrats are fancied to make somewhat of a resurgence bu the bookies and can be found anywhere from 25/1 to 40/1 to lead the country into EU Brexit negotiations. While UKIP are around 500/1 with such a result expected to be as unlikely as Leicester winning the Premier League last season.

In terms of an insight into how far Labour's Jeremy Corbyn has fallen from grace is the fact that Ladbrokes have priced up a market for the lib dems to win more votes than Labour in the election at a not unlikely 3/1. And what Labour supporters will surely see as a slap in the face the same bookmaker has UKIP at 5/1 to win more votes than them in the general election.

Nobody is expecting Jeremy Corbyn to go before the election with very few bookmakers even offering a market on this eventuality. However, Owen Smith is available at 25/1 to be the Prime Minister after the election indication that Jeremy Corbyn (available at 8/1) is not a sure thing to lead labour into the battle for Number 10 downing street.

Conservative majority at 1/5 is where the smart money will be over the next few weeks and Theresa May pushing on with a hard brexit seems to be what the majority of UK voters want to see. Our tipsters can't see any real value other than this market and will maintain a watching brief until a few more of the specials markets are released.
