Faerch launches Range of Recycled CPET for Ready Meals in Europe

Circularity in food packaging advances as Faerch makes the CPET Evolve by Faerch product range for the Ready Meals sector available across Europe. The food packaging consists of 80% post-consumer recycled PET coming from collected and recycled bottles and trays and is efficiently recyclable into new food grade products. The range is a result of Faerch’s integrated recycling capabilities and activities.

“Evolve by Faerch offers food producers, retailers and consumers a ready meal tray that is recycled and recyclable without compromising on any functional properties. This represents another step in our journey to make food packaging truly circular,” says Lars Gade Hansen, CEO of Faerch Group.

The Evolve by Faerch trays come in naturally fluctuating colours only, reflecting the blend of recycled bottles and trays they consist of without any extra colour added. This gives a unique look to the range, and it guarantees reliable detectability using current sorting infrastructure, as the material has successfully passed detection after its previous lifecycle.

“Evolve by Faerch trays provide consumers with long-awaited visual guidance to easily choose food packaging that is made from recycled content. The unique look also reminds us to treat the tray as a valuable resource that we collect after use for recycling,” says Lars Gade Hansen.

The Evolve by Faerch range in CPET possess the same attributes as Faerch’s market leading CPET solutions. It complies with the strictest food regulations keeping food safe in the entire temperature range between - 40 degrees Celsius and + 220 degrees Celsius and outperforms alternative packaging materials on food safety, recycled content and recyclability.

“In contrast to PP-based food packaging, which always consists of 100% virgin material, CPET Evolve by Faerch is made from post-consumer recycled content and can be recycled back into food grade material. Furthermore, we expect the demand for it will increase, as concerns arise among experts regarding food safety and limited recyclability of alternative products like aluminium and laminated cardboard. In short, CPET is the best choice,” says Lars Gade Hansen.

The range is available for a variety of applications, including frost, chilled and ambient. The launch follows a successful release of the Evolve by Faerch range in CPET for the Ready Meals sector in the United Kingdom, and in MAPET® II and APET for the protein sector across Europe.
