Appeal after two men assaulted by moped rider and pillion passenger in Southsea

Officers are appealing for witnesses and information after two men were assaulted by a moped rider and pillion passenger in Southsea just after midnight on Thursday, June 27.

The incident occurred between midnight and 12.20am near the junction with Hereford Road.

The moped, which is described as a red and silver Gilera Runner 124 cc, was ridden along the pavement in Albert Road.

A 51-year-old man pushed out at the bike which caused the rider to come to a stop.The man was then assaulted.

A second man, aged 44, tried to intervene and was also assaulted.

The motorbike was then seen to ride at the 51-year-old, who was on the pavement, knocking him to the ground.

Both victims suffered head injuries and required medical treatment.

The suspects are described as being aged between 17 and 25. One suspect was described as white, of skinny build and wearing a dark blue racing helmet. The other was described as black, or muscular build, with short cropped hair and wearing a sky blue polo top, dark blue jeans and a gold wristwatch.
