96 per cent of users recommend Hövding to others

Hövding is the head protection with the highest number of satisfied users, according to a survey of bike helmets by the Danish consumers’ association Taenk. Hövding is the brand which most people responded they would recommend to others. As much as 96 per cent of respondents recommend Hövding.

- We are delighted with this response from our users. The people who wear Hövding are our best ambassadors, in particular the more than 5,000 cyclists who have been saved by Hövding in an accident, says Hövding CEO Fredrik Carling.

Hövding is a popular choice for cyclists who haven’t used a bike helmet previously. According to the Taenk survey, there is no doubt that the feeling of not wearing a bike helmet means a lot to those who use Hövding. This is also true for those who previously used a traditional bike helmet. Asked what they love the most about their Hövding bike helmet, 90 per cent say it’s being protected without the need to wear a traditional helmet.

Danish Taenk has asked more than 1,000 cyclists about their helmet brand experiences. 79 Hövding owners responded to questions on their Hövding experience. The news about the satisfied Danish Hövding users is also mentioned in the latest issue of the Swedish consumer publication Råd & Rön.

Hövding - Airbag for cyclists

Hövding started out in 2005 as a master’s thesis by the two founders Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin, who, at the time, were studying Industrial Design at the University of Lund.

The project resulted in the concept of an airbag helmet, which won Innovationsbron’s Ideas Grant. This kick-started the process of developing Hövding into a real product. In 2006 Hövding won the Venture Cup, after which Hövding Sweden AB was founded.

Over the years Hövding has grown from just two people with a great idea, to a NASDAQ-listed company that handle everything from development and production to marketing and sales. Today Hövding consists of a team of around 30 people, all triggered by the word impossible, and Hövding’s airbag for cyclists is available in 16 markets across Europe.

The headquarters are located in an old chocolate factory in Malmö – the sixth greatest cycling city in the world. Final assembly of Hövding is carried out in association with the Japanese Company Nihon Plast.
