Appeal following burglary in Liverpool city centre

We are appealing for information following a burglary at a business in Liverpool city centre where safes and cash were stolen.

A report was received that Est 15 barbers on Heathfield Street, a premises also containing Bar 17 and a tattooist, had been targeted sometime between 7pm on Wednesday 12 December and 8am on Thursday.

A ground floor window had been smashed where offenders had gained entry and made an untidy search.

The offenders took two safes and damaged gambling machines and the till, taking cash from inside them. Bottles of spirits were also taken during the incident and a pool table was damaged.

Detective Inspector Paul Speight said: "The offenders have caused a great deal of damage to this local independent business. Not only have they lost money, but the criminal damage will incur further inconvenience, distress and repair costs at a busy time of year.

"Burglars have no regard for hard-working people in our communities and I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything, or anyone behaving suspiciously close to the location recently to get in touch so we can bring those responsible to justice.

"Likewise, if you have seen any unfamiliar vehicles parked in the vicinity, or have recorded anything you think is untoward on home CCTV, or dashcam, let us know. I want to reassure our local businesses that we will act on all information provided to bring those responsible to justice."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC.
