Amphibious weed-cutting machine helping to clear Sanquhar pond

A specialist weed-cutting machine is in operation at Sanquhar Pond in Forres to control aquatic plants.

An amphibious cutting machine is being used to cut back reeds, rushes and horsetail weeds, to improve the surrounding environment and allow aquatic life to return to the pond.

Moray Council has been working with a community group in the area, and this latest work is part of a five-year management plan agreed by councillors earlier this year, funded by the AS Murdoch Fishing Trust Fund, allocated for the maintenance of Sanquhar Pond.
