Moray libraries hosting events to celebrate Book Week Scotland

A SERIES of events are being held in libraries across Moray to celebrate Book Week Scotland.

Those who would like to spend the week reading can pick up a free Blether book, courtesy of Scottish Book Trust, which will be available from Moray’s libraries during this week (18-24 November).

Author Shona (S.G.) MacLean will visit Forres Library on Tuesday 19 November at 7pm to talk about her latest novel in The Seeker series, The Bear Pit. This series, set in Cromwellian London, features the enigmatic Captain Dominic Seeker. Shona is also the creator of the acclaimed Alexander Seaton series. This is an event historical and crime genre lovers won't want to miss!

Margaret Kirk will deliver her “Murder in Mind” talk at Lossiemouth Library on Thursday 21 November at 7pm. Margaret Kirk lives in Inverness and writes Highland Noir Scottish crime fiction set in her home town. Her tense and atmospheric debut novel, Shadow Man, received praise and approval from Scottish crime writing legend, Val McDermid, and the second book in the DI Lukas Mahler series, What Lies Buried, was published in June 2019.

Younger book fans are invited to find their cosiest pyjamas, and bring their teddy along to Elgin Library for Bedtime Stories in the Gallery from 6 - 6.45pm on Wednesday 20 November. This free session, suitable for young children, will include songs, rhymes and stories with a very sleepy theme.

The International Year of Indigenous Languages, Doric language aficionado, Professor Peter Reid, of Robert Gordon University will be at Keith Library on Thursday 21 November 7pm to talk about his recent work relating to all things Doric. Join the ‘Doric Blethers’ session for 'a richt guid blether', a spot of reminiscence and a wee fly cup.
