Moray students recognised for "excellent" exam results

EIGHTEEN secondary students have been awarded five As at Higher level, as “excellent” exam results pour in from all over Moray.

Twelve per cent of Moray students in S5 gained five Highers, while 36 per cent of S5 pupils in Elgin Academy achieved three or more Highers, 34 per cent of Forres Academy pupils and 33 per cent of Keith Grammar pupils.

More students than ever before have achieved three or more National 5 awards, thanks to big increases from Lossiemouth High and Elgin Academy – both with 44% of students taking home a minimum of five. Speyside High has also seen 17 per cent more students sit five or more National 5 awards.

Moray Council’s education director, Laurence Findlay, has thanked teachers for their dedication and commitment to preparing Moray’s young people for their exams, and congratulated students on their achievements.

“We wish them well as they open text messages, e-mails and envelopes this morning and encourage them to contact their school directly if they have any concerns regarding their results and next steps.

“Thanks must also go to our teachers who, despite the ongoing shortages in our schools, make sure that our students are equipped as they can be for their exams, with many going above and beyond to ensure young people get the preparation needed.”

“I’m delighted to hear how well our students have performed in their exams. They’ve been working hard, encouraged by their teachers and family, and the results we’re seeing are proof that their dedication and effort has really paid off.”
