BUS OPERATORS ANNOUNCE FURTHER REVISED SERVICES

The major Oxfordshire bus operators are introducing further adjustments to services this month, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel confirmed additional changes to better match supply with passenger demand in line with government guidance during the lockdown period, while continuing to maintain sufficient capacity to enable social distancing on-board. The timetables are designed to ensure essential key workers such as NHS staff, teachers and those in the food supply chain can still get to and from work.

From Saturday 6 February city2/A/B, city3 and city8, 9, (which operate jointly with Stagecoach) will run to Sunday timetables on Saturdays, with some additional early morning journeys.

Plus, from Sunday 7 February 2021 the Oxford Bus Company city5, (which operates jointly with Stagecoach service 1), will also have its timetable adjusted. The Monday to Friday service will be marginally reduced and a Sunday service, with additional early morning journeys, will operate on Saturdays.

Thames Travel’s ‘River Rapids’ services X38, X39 and X40 will be revised to run to Sunday timetables on Saturdays, with some additional early morning journeys, from Saturday 13 February.

Passengers are advised to check operators’ websites for full details before planning journeys. All bus operators continue to maintain extensive cleaning regimes and high levels of hygiene to protect the health and well-being of passengers and colleagues.

Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel Managing Director, said: “We have further adjusted some of our services to ensure we continue to follow government guidance on service provision during the latest lockdown and meet the current lower demand. This will ensure we maintain important connectivity for key workers.

“I’d encourage people to check our websites for full details before planning their journeys. I’d also like to thank our customers for their continued understanding and colleagues for their relentless professionalism during this challenging time.”
