DEADLINE TO ENTER OXFORD BUS COMPANY ‘BRAND THE BUS’ COMPETITION EXTENDED

Oxford Bus Company has extended its deadline for good causes to enter the Brand the Bus competition – in the wake of the latest Government COVID-19 restrictions.

It has extended the time good causes have to enter by three weeks, taking the deadline to submit entries to 20th December at 23.59. The public vote will now close on 31st December at 23.59.

The competition offers local good causes and charities the opportunity to have an Oxford Bus Company bus emblazoned with its branding. People can then vote for their favourite good cause to win the unique opportunity.

Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company said: “We appreciate many good causes and charities are managing multiple challenges at this difficult time and we’re also aware some people may now find themselves furloughed throughout November. Following the recent COVID-19 restrictions, we decided to extend the deadline to enter, to help maximise the positive impact of the competition and give organisations a fair chance to win even if they have been forced to furlough staff at this difficult time.

“The extension will not affect when we announce our winner, so it’s a sensible move in the circumstances. Entries are continuing to come in and the voting is starting to shape up, so I’d encourage local good causes and charities to submit their entries and ensure they gain some well-deserved exposure. Good causes need help now more than ever before and this competition is a great way for them to raise their profile and support base.”

Girl Guiding Oxfordshire won the inaugural 2019 Brand the Bus competition and Home-Start Oxford scooped first place this year. Both good causes now have a branded bus emblazoned on a double-decker.

The 2020 competition has so far seen 11 entries from local charities and good causes, and more than 2,700 votes have already been cast.

The 10 entries for 2021 that are deemed best according to the public vote will be shortlisted and examined by a judging panel. Prizes will be awarded to the competitors who have, in the panel’s opinion, fulfilled the brief to the highest standard.

The winning organisation will be invited to work with the Oxford Bus Company to design a bus wrap featuring the brand colours, logo, and messages of the good cause. Runners-up will receive support via digital on-board bus advertising.
