In the Wake of AfD entering German Parliament, Artist Manou Marzban's new collection of WWII German helmets

Dubbed 'The Banksy of Persia" by Le Monde, artist Manou Marzban's 2-day exhibition at Gallery Different is a fabulous opportunity to preview new work by one of the leading European-based middle eastern artists.

Manou's newest and most powerful collection to date, entitled 'Diversity Not Fascism,' is a collection of cleverly re-purposed WWII Third Reich helmets that make a powerful and poignantly timed statement in favor of diversity. In an uncanny incidence of timing, the collection's release coincides with the aftermath of Germany's election results, where the far-right succeeded in entering Parliament for the first time in 60 years.

For the collection, Manou painted the WWII helmets in every colour of the rainbow to reflect the diversity we see in the world today and remind us of how far we've come, while at the same time allowing the helmets themselves to stand as iconic symbols of what can happen when populist ideologies take hold.

The artist states, "When I was in boarding school in the early 1970s in Sonning, Reading, I was the only foreign student. Today, such schools are a vibrant mix of cultures. In just 40 odd years, the landscape has changed. Imagine what the world will look like in 100 years? Diversity is inevitable.”

The exhibition also features the newest pieces from the whimsical sell-out series, Persian Pop--delightful reiterations of Persian Qajar kings, or 'Shahs,' that bring a much welcomed levity to the narrative that surrounds the Qajar period in Iran.

Viewers will also love seeing the latest addition to the artist's spectacular sell-out series, Ping Pop, in which the artist graffities actual table-tennis tables, finishing them with a durable surface that allows the lucky collectors to not only enjoy them as sensational works of art but also have a go at playing a game on them too.

And finally, with the holiday season in mind, Manou has created one-of-a-kind ceramic tiles featuring his much loved and uniquely whimsical caricatures.
