Award winning Chef Richard Bertinet shows support for Action on Stroke Month

Award winning baker and Chef Richard Bertinet from Bath has shown his support for Action on Stroke Month by sharing his Blackcurrant Mousse recipe to inspire everyone to Make May Purple.

Throughout the month of May the Stroke Association has encouraged everyone to Make May Purple through cooking, gardening, dressing up and share it purple. The Blackcurrant mousse has been a very vibrant addition.

The Chef who runs a cookery school in Bath and an artisan bakery which supplies his two Bath shops and good food outlets nationwide was keen to get involved, he said: "I'm delighted to be supporting the Stroke Association's Make May Purple. I was shocked to find out that around a third of people who have a stroke are under 65.I hope that people can have fun making my Blackcurrant Mousse whilst raising money to help the Stroke Association make sure they get the support they deserve."

A stroke is a brain attack which happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, caused by a clot or bleeding in the brain. There are around 152,000 strokes in the UK every year and it is the leading cause of severe adult disability. There are over 1.2 million people in the UK living with the effects of stroke.

Action on Stroke Month raises awareness of stroke and how you can prevent it. You can find out more at www.stroke.org.uk/strokemonth.
