23rd March 2015

Father and son team run the Reading half Marathon for wife and Mum.

Donna Boyles from Reading watched on with pride as her husband and son ran the half marathon at the weekend. The father and son team, who are both local football referees, signed up for the run to raise money the Stroke Association after Donna had a stroke in January this year.

It was a great day and the boys had a great run, crossing the finish line together at 2 hours and 20 minutes! They said “We have learnt a lot about stroke this year and seeing how it can change someone’s live overnight is amazing. We wanted to do something to raise awareness of stroke and funds for the charity that has given us as a family so much support.”

A stroke happens in an instant but its effects can last a lifetime. A stroke is a brain attack which happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, caused by a clot or bleeding in the brain. There are around 2,000 strokes in Berkshire every year and it is the leading cause of severe adult disability. There are over 12,000 people in the County living with the effects of stroke.

Craig and Chris Boyles have already raised over £1,300 for the Stroke but there is still time to donate. You can support them by visiting: www.justgiving.com/RunForDonnna/.
