Making parking in London greener

Electric vehicle (EV) ownership is continuing to grow at a rapid rate with car manufacturers such as Tesla Motors, Nissan and BMW producing revolutionary, eco-friendly vehicles.

Q-Park UK continuously aims to promote and provide electric car charging points. We have a national network of charging points including Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Croydon, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield and York. This year the focus for Q-Park has been to increase the supply in the location that has by far the biggest demand, Central London.

Q-Park have been rolling out new EV charging points across London, including rapid chargers. They have also been assisting TFL with improving the local air quality by providing facilities for Electric Taxis to charge, thus removing the old polluting Diesel cabs from our roads! This is part of Q-Park working with TFL and Westminster City Council to try and reduce the pollution levels on the Capitals roads.

According to a study by the BBC in 2016, Oxford Street was declared as one of the most polluted environments in the world. Since then more and more charges have been levied on the most polluting vehicles to discourage them from driving into the City and then there was the National announcement that after 2040 there would be a total ban on the production and sale of petrol and diesel cars. Q-Park were keen to get ahead of the curve and showcase themselves as the greenest parking operator in the UK. This mission included reducing their operational carbon footprint by installing LED eco-efficient lighting across their portfolio and encouraging customers to use green cars. Q-Park have done this by offering a safe and secure environment for cars ranging from Tesla’s to Nissan Leaf’s. Hybrid Vehicle drivers can access an exclusive 25% off an annual season ticket whilst fully electric vehicle drivers get 50% off!
