Blog a day in your life

A meeting with the Poet Laureate and an iPad Mini are up for grabs for the winner of Rochdale Borough Council’s blogging competition.

Young people from across the borough are being invited to write an inspirational blog about a day in their life as part of Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival.

To enter bloggers must:

The winner and 17 highly commended young bloggers will be congratulated by the Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, at a special celebration event to take place during the festival.

The competition is one of a number of events and activities being held in the run up to the Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival which takes place from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 October.

The festival will feature workshops, music, readings, children’s shows, debates, talks and more from guests including:

  • Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy
  • television personality Gyles Brandreth
  • Dragons’ Den winner Mark Champkins
  • poet Simon Armitage
  • MOBO award-winning rapper Akala
  • former Coronation Street star Kevin
    Kennedy
  • multi-award winning author and playwright Trevor
    Hoyle
  • poet James Nash
  • former rugby league international and author of
    ‘Tries and Prejudice’, Ikram Butt
  • top children’s storyteller Susanna Oldfield

The festival is organised by Rochdale Borough Council, funded by the Maskew Bequest and the Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts Award.
