Extra seats for X-Factor Lucy’s literature festival show

Extra seats have been released for pop star Lucy Spraggan’s performance at Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival this month after fans snapped up tickets and the show on Saturday 25 October sold out.

Due to demand, her 2pm performance has been moved to the main stage at Number One Riverside.  An extra 70 seats are now on sale from www.rochdaleliteraturefestival.co.uk

The singer-songwriter shot to fame after making it to the live shows of ITV1’s The X Factor in 2012. Spraggan’s memorable performance of her own song ‘Tea and Toast’, received a standing ovation and more than 28 million views on YouTube.  In 2013 she had two top 40 singles – ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘Last Night.’  Lucy, 22, who describes her music as a mixture of acoustic, folk and hip-hop, has received rave reviews for her live shows and the rest of her autumn tour has sold out.  In Rochdale, as well as performing a live set, she’ll be talking about the art of songwriting and meeting fans.

Lucy will be followed on the main stage later in the evening by top UK rap artist Ghetts.  The rapper and MC, full name Justin Samuel Reginald Clarke, who’s had his music played on BBC Radio One and released his debut album ‘Rebel With a Cause’ this year, will perform at 7pm.

The festival will include guest speakers, authors, writers and local arts organisations and is aimed at encouraging more people to engage in reading and philosophy. It includes events at venues in Rochdale town centre and boroughwide, aimed at all ages.

The festival is due to the generosity of Annie and Frank Maskew, a Rochdale couple who shared a passion for reading and thinking, who originally met in Rochdale Library. They left a sum of money to be used on resources and events related to literature and philosophy to ensure classic works are available for future generations.
